Do you buy into resolutions? The simplicity of “new year, new you”; that you are a new person based on the calendar – even given the holiday hangover?
I’ve never been much for “resolutions” – intentions are far superior.
Though I would be remiss if I didn’t say that I love flipping the calendar. Like the whole planet is on the same page – ready for a shift and a fresh start, especially after the crescendo of the holidays.
You’ll see the phrase, “new year, new you” everywhere over the next week or so, but obviously it’s less than realistic to think that one could totally flip the switch on habits that are unhealthy or just plain undesirable. Could be any thing from biting your fingernails, keeping dishes out of the sink, being less cranky or losing ten pounds.
New year, new you is a rather simple proposition – either do it or don’t do it. But when you, you perfectly imperfect human being inevitably slip up, just remember that it’s not the end of the world.
You are not new today, but you can be constantly renewed regardless of the calendar.
You are a beautiful work in progress.
