Last month was National Bike Month.
Last year I commuted to work by bike during the month of June.
Certain aspects of my schedule have changed since then, and I need more flexibility in the mornings and evenings than last June, so as much as I know it’s physically possible to bike commute, I just can’t do it for other (positive, trust me) reasons. I’m struggling to make the time to get out on the bike at all, and don’t even talk to me about the gym. I’m not in denial about what I am and am not doing, I’m just in a place where it’s easier to make other priorities.
That said, I need to get my fix! I’ve got plans for my first big weekend in the hopper! A solo bikepacking adventure departing from my home, arriving at a B-E-A-utiful state park about 40 miles north. I’ll camp overnight on Saturday and come back on Sunday. This is planned for Father’s Day weekend – and hopefully the weather will be cooperative. Because as much as I want to do this, I can’t see doing it in the rain. Just sayin.
I have all the gear I need, with one exception: coffee. Ironic, if you know me. I have to determine the best (and least expensive) options there for me.
I need some silence, some solitude, some sweat, some adventure. Not necessarily in that order.
