I started physical therapy for my shoulder this morning. I have been experiencing pretty significant pain and difficulty with extension and rotation.. this has been going on for a while, but I’m finally at the point where I need to make solid progress.

I’ve tried a bunch of things – anti-inflammitories and rest, acupuncture and massage therapy (I think this would help, but I can’t afford it and my insurance doesn’t cover these treatments), cortisone shot.. Finally, here we are with PT. We haven’t done any imaging yet, but my physician thinks it’s bursitis and biceps tendonitis.

This morning I had my evaluation, did some electro-therapy with moist heat and stretching. I have stretching home work to do.

This is going to be for 3x a week for six weeks. And I’m really excited and hopeful that this can help resolve these issues. Also, the PT place is right around the corner from my house! Sooo close, I can ride my bike there with ease. :)

I haven’t been able to lift at the gym or do 90% of upper-body exercises at the gym for several months – if I did, I could only work my right half, which would have me looking like the gentleman above in no time, I’m sure. But on top of that, I have a hard time carrying anything with my left arm including grocery bags and it’s even effecting my sleep. Yeah, it’s been frustrating.

Here we go!

  • Sorry to hear about your injury/soreness. That sure stinks! I hope therapy does the trick for you!
