Hello, friends!

I have news for you, and it is good: I have lost 3 pounds! That’s right! My post-spin weigh in on Saturday puts me at 23 down, 55 to-go! By the way, this current weight is my lowest as an adult. I’m very proud of this..

This was an activity and celebration-filled weekend. Spin on Saturday whooped my ass. The first half of class felt so good, I was so strong and excited to be there, working up a sweat and I really felt like I owned it – and then there was the 2nd half of class. I don’t know if that one guy up at the front pissed off the instructor or not, but she was really merciless. I worked really hard, trust me. Those two weeks I was away was the first time I had not spun at some point during the weekend since Jan. 15. Is it weird to say that I missed it? That I missed the sweat and the work? Nah, it’s mine. I’m proud that my body has gotten to this point, and while I’m only about a third of the way there, I’ll take it.

Yesterday, Sunday, I rode my bike about 32 miles. Now, this is not my longest ride ever, but it was the most I’ve ridden in quite some time. I rode from my home to my work as a test because I’m thinking about commuting by bike a few times each week. It took me about 2 hours or so to get to the destination and I took a different route home which took about 1.5 hours. I was definitely hurting towards the end, but I think that’s because I didn’t fuel myself properly for a ride like that and my muscles were exhausted after spin on Saturday. I also got stuck in a downpour for about the last hour of the ride, which was not as terrible as you’d think – but only because I didn’t have some place to be and it didn’t matter that I would be water-logged when I arrived home.

U.S. Route One, facing north.

Handlebars, workplace.

I think commuting by bike is do-able, but I definitely wouldn’t want to do it every day.
